Having
accepted my poor posture along with consequent little ailments
as part of my own given make-up, it never occurred to me that
most of my problems were self-inflicted - let alone, that I could
change. Thus, when I started having lessons in the F. M. Alexander
Technique, all I was hoping for was some help with my lower back
pain. To my surprise, I found a key to discovering new horizons.
Not only did the pain disappear - together with my frequent stress-related
headaches - but the technique also enables me to think and react
differently, creating a completely fresh outlook on my life.
Intrigued by the magic
of it all, I embarked on a three-year, full-time training
course at The
Constructive Teaching Centre in London, the world's largest
training centre for
teachers of the F. M. Alexander Technique. Its director, the late
Walter Carrington was trained by F. M. Alexander himself and worked
many years as his main assistant, subsequently taking over the
school after Alexander's death.
I am a registered member of
the regulatory professional body, the Society of Teachers of the
Alexander Technique STAT.
