The F. M. Alexander Technique provides us with
a tool to consciously become aware of bad habits and to make new
choices.
Humans
have the capacity to consciously choose how to react to
a certain stimulus or situation at any given moment.
At
the same time we are also creatures of habit - so much
so that we don't notice when we are becoming slaves of habits,
which affect our whole organism adversely.
There
are habits of thinking the same
unhelpful thoughts over and over again as well as habits of undue
muscular tension in movement and stillness.
